Kentucky Derby Party

Each year the Kentucky Society of Washington, DC hosts a Pre-Derby party in Virginia. It's a once-a-year opportunity to wear ridiculous hats and great dresses, and stand around outside with your friends while eating bourbon balls and derby pie. Essentially, its all things Kentucky. Men bring their pipes and cigars, bluegrass music is played by a live band. It's wonderful.

We also celebrated Stephen Aaron's birthday at the Derby Party this year. MariScarlett brought a cake and silly string, and after he blew out the candles, we all (including Ken) participated in the chomp and pass tradition (see next post for another example).
