My friend Gail posted this http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23053553/on her blog, and I read it, and I'm just not sure how I feel about this. Certainly waiting around for Mr. Perfect is unrealistic. No one (including me) is perfect, and it's important to understand the difference between differences and deal breakers. However, should there be fewer deal breakers than we thought- growing up pretending to be Cinderella? Did the incredibly happy couples who love each other and laugh together and romance one another that I see at church "settle" and let living together take it's course, or did they have that kind of chemistry before they got married? Anyway- still not sure how I feel about this.

i think there are way less deal breakers than we think. my dad asked me a similar question when we were talking about my brother and a really serious relationship he had for a couple years. honestly, i couldnt really come up with something that i thought was a deal breaker.
then, my mom made a comment recently that had me thinking about the prevalent question in my mind "in the stories we hear, how do all these guys know when to pursue a girl, and do it so persistently, ultimately to the end of marriage?" so it put the question in my mind "is all that theyre doing just finding a godly woman who displays the qualities that they desire in a wife and pursuing her?"
is that emotional side of things really necessary to start something? i have a hard time believing that it is. for guys i have no doubt that the excitement of having a woman of such character respond to them is enough to involve their emotions. and for women, its the pursuit that brings their interests and emotional side into the picture. (or so i imagine...forgive me if this is inaccurate)
now i know there are deal breakers but most of the things we think of arent. theyre differences that require us to die to ourselves to love another sinner. to see beyond the all-consuming "me". its no wonder people walk away in light of such difficulties. its just plain hard!
its also really interesting the settle-for-mr-good-enough lady isnt married...that says something.
